The numerical analysis involves the study, development, construction, and analysis of algorithms for obtaining numerical solutions to various mathematical problems such as linear and nonlinear problems by using approximation methods. The approximation methods are some numerical methods that have been developed specially to solve certain types of problems such as linear, nonlinear, polynomial, differentiation, integration, and initial value problems.
There are 9 topics in this course. Topic 1 gives a brief introduction to some mathematical preliminaries and numerical errors. Topic 2 and topic 3 discuss the solutions for a system of linear equations. Topic 4 and topic 5 give the solutions for scalar and system of nonlinear equations respectively. Topic 6 is on polynomials, topic 7 is about numerical differentiation. Topic 8 is about numerical integration and lastly, topic 9 is on solving initial value problems.
